Just saw this posted up on Urban Jacksonville. Artist Sarah Kay (as well as several other artists)will be featuring some of her work up at Three Layers in Springfield this upcomming weekend. I was curious to find out more about her work so I swung on by her Flickr page to see what shes all about. Her work reminds me of a Dr. Seus book or something. Its really colurful and fun. Would look really cool in a childs story book or as some art work for a kids bedroom. Good stuff! Check her out here on Flickr.

For the Record
Published August 14, 2008 x 6 CommentsTags: jacksonville, urban art, graffiti art, accused, wrong

Back near the end of May I posted up some info that I found out about from the 05/19 Times Union. The article was about two local graffiti artists, Joshua Howard and Mark Dell that got busted by the cops for tagging or about to tag a building. The artice made Mark and Josh seem like they couldnt give a damn and even showed the cops pics of other places they tagged via there digital camera. Well, Mark had a chance to add a comment about what REALLY went down that night. Heres what Mark had to say to set the record straight!
Hey man, Just to set the record straight this is not how it went down at all. My name is Mark and i was the one arrested for this, no consent was ever given for any camera, we hadn’t even touched the wall yet, and we never admitted to anything. As for the pics, there was illegal, legal walls, and every other writers work on there. These police here in jax are clueless, they arrested us on straight speculation and all charges were dropped. Not before they drug me and my boy through the mud and made this more of a deal than it ever was.
The key thing here is the charges were dropped. If they were truly doing something wrong and really damaged all sorts of property( as the article stated) then why would the cops just let them go? Probally because they didnt have anything on them! Im not saying tagging up other peoples property is ok by any means but, whatever Mark and Josh did obviously it was on vacant property and did not cause any property damange in any way. I know I have dablled from time to time in some tags myself and there are some I probally should not have done, but, I am trying to be a good boy lately..LOL. Does anyone know Mark and Josh??? Would be cool to see what kind of work they do…whether legal…or not. Heee Heeee Heeee!! Check out the original post I had up here if your interested in finding out more about what was reported by the Times Union and JSO.

Spencer Taylor, age 20, Was arrested back on 07/27 for dressing up as the Joker from the recent Batman movie and walking into a movie theatre up in Michigan where he was caught trying to steal one of the movie posters from the lobby. I would imagine you could probally buy one of the movie posters at any Walmart or Target store by now for about 6.00. Now he is hit up with a fine of 685.00 and has to do 16 hours of community service. This atempt at being one of the coolest bad guys-FAILED. Read all the details about how the police foiled the “Jokers” plans without the aid of Batman.

I stopped by his blog today to see what hes been up to and he has updated his blog with a lot of fresh new work including the skull pictured above and his awesome zombie illustrations he did for The Monster Show. The skull illustration was intended to be in the TSI show back on 08/08. Hopefully Chad can have it and several other new works hes come up with at the new show location at FUEL this Friday!!!
